Tim(id) Power(less) is an attempt to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as it pertains to the journey that God has put me on. This is an honest journey, a work in progress, an unfinished canvas of sorts. In no way have I arrived at the fullness of understanding of what God is trying to teach me. At best, I’m a novice. There are expert teachers out there, that can run circles around me theologically. Like the apostle Paul: “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:1-5).
Raised “hands-off” Catholic, christened, confirmed, I hated religion my first 19 years of life. Through a profound miracle involving me being arrested, a best friend being hit by lightning and the humbling first year of Art School, God brought me to my knees and I came to faith in Jesus in 1995. Since that time I fell into a period where I believed that I was saved, yet I lived worse than the most vile offender. As a dog returns to his vomit (proverbs 26:11) I returned to my foolish “pre-Christian” lifestyle and caused incredible damage to my own life and many loved ones around me. in April 2012, through the mercy and grace of God, I came to my senses and began a journey back to obedience to God’s perfect law, the Holy Scriptures found in the Bible. Today, I continue on that journey, much wiser and cautious then my first attempt and hopefully more loving and full of mercy and empathy to the millions of folks “like me” that have exchanged the truth of God for the lies of the evil enemy of God (Romans 1:25).
Today, I consider myself part of no denomination of Christ. I am not a Catholic, a reformer nor a restorer. I’m not a Mennonite, nor an Anabaptist. I am a Kingdom Christian, a Christ centered Christian, a Gospel-centric Christian, a bible obedient Christian. I believe God is a rational God, that teaches us through His written word as well as His living word (nature and events in our lives). There is no coincidence, not a hear on our heads is there by chance, not an encounter that happens to us is frivolous and we should not take any relationship lightly or any lesson with a grain of salt. At the same time, God is gracious, He does not treat us as our sins deserve (Ephesians 2:3-5); but, we cannot use this grace of God to live however we want and think He will turn a blind eye to our folly. If we are going to call ourselves Christ Followers, we need to follow what Christ commands of us. There will be no excuse on the last days for our ignorance and we will do well to examine our lives with trembling and fear and to work out our own salvation. The day of wrath is soon and Hell is a real place, if we do not repent of our sins and come to obedience in Christ, we will not inherit the eternal Kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21).
Lastly, if you are interested in joining my plight to be holy, please contact me. We cannot do this alone. The evil one is too strong and will devour the solo practitioner. We need to form a body of believers that are willing to spur one another on to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24) and refute the 2000 years of false doctrine spewed by the wicked dragon’s mouth (Revelation 12:13-17). More than ever in the history of God’s people, we need strong men to rise up and be bold for Jesus Christ. We need strong men to lead our families to holy living, to not give in to impure desires and temptations, to get rid of worldly entertainment and dress, to stop living for this world’s riches and start living for our inheritance with our Father in Heaven! The true message of Jesus is not popular and you will be hated for teaching the truth (Mark 13:13); but, the one who stands firm to the end, will be saved!
